Coming Home

(PLEASE CHECK OUR NEWER SITE: www.CanadiansOnTheRoad.blogspot.com )

Travelling back to Ontario, we had two sunny days. The colors of the trees on the Virginian and West Virginian Mountains were undescribable.
Thank you for joining us on this adventure. We should be back travelling again in March 2007!

Notice the thermal socks on the end of the ladder? That's my idea! No telling what a person can think of when relaxing. :o)

A little Front Porch music

We are cleaning up to get the trailer ready for storage. This will be our last posting until the next trip. That trip should start around the beginning of March '07. Join us then! And thanks for joining us on this trip!

Crossville, Tennessee

Fact: no one uses their car signal lights.

While in Breakenbridge RV Park we have visited two state parks. The scenery is beautiful at this time of year. On frosty mornings, smoke rises from a home in the valley and then levels out in a band against the backdrop of the mountains.
Both state parks in this area can handle motorhomes and travel trailers. That will be for a future trip.

Tennessee

Tennessee
October, 2006

Volunteer Park, just north of Knoxville, is where we have been parked for a week. This is a music camp. There are two scheduled Bluegrass concerts per week. At this time of year there is a music overload as musicians pull in for the annual Tennessee Homecoming. There are jam sessions every night full of music and laughter.
And, the camp staff? Well, cheerful and happy with just a touch of insanity!
We are moving but only further down the road and into the woods.
Enjoy

This set of pictures was taken at the Museum of Appalachia. Harrison Mayes had a unique way of spreading his particular brand of Christianity.

Maggie Valley, North Carolina

Maggie Valley, North Carolina

This set of pictures matches On the Road letter number two.
We are nearing the end of our two-week stay in the lovely Maggie Valley.
The leaves on the trees are only beginning to have a touch of the fall color.
Up on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the change is more noticeable.

We hope you enjoy these few pictures. On Oct.4 we move into Tennessee for two weeks. Then we will pass through North Carolina, again, on our way to our final stop in South Carolina.

Why are these mountains called "Smoky"?

Fall 2006 Smoky Mountains

Fall 2006 Smoky Mountains

We left Aurora on Sept. 17 to visit Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
This is our second trip to the Smoky Mountains where the scenery is well-worth the drive.
We have scheduled our driving so that it is no longer than 250 m/400 k per day. It worked amazingly well because it gave us time to stop and explore areas that we have previously missed: Erie, PA., Flatwoods, WV. and, especially, Bristol, TN.
One highlight of the drive was the new road, Hwy. 26, that runs from near Bristol down to Asheville, NC. Glorious views of sharp-peaked mountains!
